About

Jennie Hagevik Bringaker (b. 1978, Oslo), has a BFA from the Norwegian Theatre Academy at Østfold University College and an MFA in Studio Art at New York University. Her art practice has, over a long period of time, been channeled into various collaborative and performative projects. From 2013 to 2018, she was part of the artist duo Trollkrem with Tor Erik Bøe.

2018 constituted a shift in Bringaker’s artistic practice: she started her practice as an independent sculptor and moved on from the performative aspect.

“I work in the field of figurative sculpture employing a range of different media such as stone, earthenware, textiles, and metal. The works are often motivated by personal experiences but are also inspired by the expression of pre-historic art manifested in sculptural totems, reliefs, and murals. The exhibition space would play an important part in the development of both the concepts and the design of my works, as I consider my sculptures performative actors in the space, frozen in time.”
